Al Awda

The UK based newspaper, Al Quds Alarabi has reported that the Jordanian government has reached an agreement with UNHCR to “transfer” 280 Palestinians who live in Al Ruweshid refugee camp on the Jordan-Iraq borders to Canada. This has been confirmed by the Palestinian Minister of Refugees Affairs.

It is a dangerous step which reinforce the pro-Zionist agenda in transferring Palestinian refugees not around historical Palestine only but even scattering them around the world in an attempt to dissolve our cause and diminish our right of return.

Despite all the attempts which aim at disguising this disgraceful deed with a humanitarian mask, it is clear that this precedent, if went ahead as planned, will open the door to a wider international campaign to end the refugees issue and to transfer them to many other countries.

It also comes in a time where Hamas government is busy with the internal deteriorating Palestinian situation and the absence of any diplomatic communications between the Jordanian government that refuses to communicate with Hamas and the Palestinian government.

These measures from the Jordanian government is receiving acknowledgment from the Palestinian presidency which is always mouthing about engineering Oslo agreement which dropped the right of return on purpose. It also goes in line with what Yaser Abedrabo, a former Palestinian minister, agreed on in the Geneva accord, and not to forget Dr. Nusseiba contribution on giving up the right of return in a memorandum of understanding with the Israeli side.

It is a call to all organisations which support the right of return to stand up and do their duty towards stopping such a deal and press the Jordanian government to accommodate these refugees into the other refugee camps around Jordan and not to take advantage of their plight and miserable living conditions in tents in the desert for more than 3 years.
